The future of Shell

This is a business of very long-term plans and substantial investment. It involves acquiring and developing new exploration areas, making oil and gas discoveries and bringing them to market.

In the near future we will commence building up our operations capability in time for our Prelude development. Future opportunities and expressions of interest are encouraged by any candidates with substantial LNG experience.

The Prelude development will be Shell’s first operated gas development project in Australia. As the gas reserves are too small and remote for development by a conventional pipeline-to-onshore LNG plant, Prelude is well suited to development ‘in situ’ using Shell’s Floating LNG (FLNG) technology. If FLNG were used for Prelude, it would be one of the first facilities of its kind in the world, possibly the first.
