Established in 1995, the Australian International Hotel School (AIHS) in Canberra has a world class reputation for the academic excellence and rigour of its programs and teaching. The Australian International Hotel School offers both undergraduate and postgraduate programs and is unique due to its ability to offer hospitality focused education in an on-site commercial hotel. The Hotel Kurrajong is a boutique four-star property where students gain real-life training and experience as hoteliers.

All AIHS programs include theory, skills training and practice under the professional supervision of academic staff and staff of the Hotel Kurrajong. Students will participate in the broader industry through an internship program.

• Bachelor of Business (International Event Management)
• Master of Hotel Management.

Qualifications

The School of Tourism, The University of Queensland endorses the Bachelor of Business degree delivered by AIHS and students who complete the 2.5 year degree in International Hotel Management will also graduate with the coveted Swiss Hotel Association (SHA) Diploma. Switzerland is the traditional home of hospitality and world renowned for its superior applied skills training. The SHA Diploma is internationally recognised and respected by the industry.

To assist our students with securing exciting roles in hospitality the Graduate Privileged Partners program is a competitive selection program that connects our highest-achieving final year students with a select group of Industry Partners for management traineeships. The program allows for a more in-depth relationship between employer and graduate than is usual in a normal job interview process and provides assurance to both about commitment and quality. Our Industry Partners are Accor, Hyatt, Four Seasons, Marriott, Starwood and Toga Hospitality.

AIHS has a unique location in the heart of the Australian capital, Canberra, the centre of political power, a popular tourism destination and a well-recognised university city offering great student resources and lifestyle. Canberra is also an ideal location to teach International Event Management as it plays host to national celebrations and major sporting, arts and cultural events.
