Rural Health West
About us
Rural Health West has an unparalleled understanding of general practice across rural Western Australia. We are a not-for-profit organisation, which means that our recommendations are not influenced by commissions, but rather by a desire to achieve a ‘best fit’ for the communities and doctors concerned. The organisation offers prospective doctors a personalised ‘case management’ approach to finding the most suitable locations for them to work in, whether as a locum or permanent doctor.
Support
We provide extensive support services to general practitioners who work in rural and remote Western Australia. These services include orientations to local medical practice, family support, financial incentives, education and upskilling. The majority of these are provided as part of the service, with no costs attached.
Variety
Medical practice in Western Australia is as varied as our state, which ranges from a tropical monsoonal climate in the north to a temperate zone in the south, as well as a vast arid desert to the east. These contrasts translate to great diversity in general practice and, if you choose to seek it, challenge.
Options
Placements are available in regional centres, smaller communities and, for those doctors with suitable skills and experience, in solo practices. We are also seeking doctors to work within the Aboriginal Medical Services. These services are specialised medical facilities that address the specific health needs of Indigenous Australians.
