Australian unemployment rate keeps on dropping

After last month’s unexpected low number, the Australian unemployment rate has dropped again and is now sitting at 5.1%.

According to Joshua Williamson, a Citigroup Inc economist in Sydney quoted by Bloomberg, “Australia now has more people in paid employment than at any other time in its history”.

The Australian Bureau of Statistics’ latest figures show that the number of employed people in Australia increased by 45,900 to 11.100 million in June. The rise was recorded both in part and full time employment and it was Australia’s tenth consecutive rise in the number of full-time employed people.
