Skill shortages to worsen in rural areas
22 February 2010
The Australian Workers Union is warning about a potential skills shortage that is about to hit the rural areas of the country. According to the union, agricultural employers will struggle to fill positions as the economy improves.
With strong rains and the mining sector rapidly picking up, a new wave of skills shortages in rural Australia is even more of a concern.
“We believe that is going to be likely, and even more so, given that some areas of Australia had some good rains in the last few months, which means there are more jobs available,” commented Danita Wawn, from the National Farmers Federation, as quoted by ABC Australia.
