The beaches of Sydney

There are many reasons why Sydney is good choice for those people considering a move to Australia. One of the top reasons would have to be the easy mix of urban, modern lifestyle with the relaxed sun drenched beach lifestyle so many Sydneysiders enjoy.Sydney beach

Sydney's beaches are among the most famous in the world, and not without reason. With over 35 beaches combining white sand, azure sea, legendary surf, and jaw dropping beach culture and style all within 30 minutes of the CBD, Sydney really does fulfil its reputation.

Bondi Beach

Probably the most famous of Sydney’s beaches is Bondi. Just 20 minutes from the centre of the city, this kilometre long swathe of blindingly white sand is the honey pot of Australia’s fashion beach babes. Bondi has it all – the perfect crescent beach, ideal surf, interesting shopping, and first class bars and restaurants.

Manly Beach

Similarly, Manly beach is a five star destination in terms of what is on offer. A 30 minute ferry ride from central Sydney, Manly is often referred to as the Sydney locals’ favourite beach. Offering a boutique shopping experience and fine dining, there is plenty to do besides bake on the beach, including taking a trip to Oceanworld Manly, where you can get up close and personal with some of New South Wales' best-loved sea critters.

Smaller beaches

There are plenty of smaller, less high profile beaches for those who find the super bronzed, muscle bound sights of Bondi and Manly a little intimidating. Coogee and Randwick in the Eastern suburbs are two such family beaches. And if surf isn't your thing, sheltered, child friendly beaches such as Queenscliff and Fresh Water Beach are easy to find.

In fact, Sydney's beach culture has something to offer everyone; there are even nudist beaches discreetly tucked away, including Obelisk Beach and the smaller Cobblers Beach.

Coastal walks

There are stunning coastal walks accessible from many of Sydney's beaches. Coastal paths over headlands will reveal stunning, less populated beaches, which can feel miles from the upbeat, vibrant colour of the metropolis. Views over glistening seas of sailing boats and beautiful scenery, bird life and more are all there for the taking.

So whatever you want, whether it be getting away from the crowds and the city bustle, enjoying a family day out at the beach, trying your hand at surfing, enjoying world class food with world class views or hanging with Australia's rich, famous and beautiful, there is something for everyone on Sydney's beaches.
