Australian Capital Territory
The Australian Capital Territory (ACT), an inland enclave in the state of New South Wales, is the country’s smallest self-governing internal territory and home to Australia’s capital, Canberra.
A total of nearly 340,000 people live in the territory, most of them in Canberra. Apart from the capital, the territory also contains a large portion of agricultural land and a big area of national park. Small townships and communities located within the Australian Capital Territory also include Williamsdale, Naas, Uriarra and Hall.
The territory experiences four very distinct seasons every year, much due to its 650m elevation. Canberra is particularly notorious for hot, dry summers and cold winters, unlike most Australian cities that have their climates moderated by the sea.
