Rural Health West
Rural Health West has an unparalleled understanding of general practice across rural Western Australia. We provide extensive support services to general practitioners who work in rural and remote Western Australia. These services include orientations to local medical practice, family support, financial incentives, education and upskilling.
Placements are available in regional centres, smaller communities and, for those doctors with suitable skills and experience, in solo practices. We are also seeking doctors to work within the Aboriginal Medical Services. These services are specialised medical facilities that address the specific health needs of Indigenous Australians.

The Mawarnkarra Health Service in Roebourne is a stable, safe and supportive work environment with Aboriginal health workers, nurses, a practice manager and support staff, as well as visiting allied health professionals and specialists.
The centre provides programs including chronic disease, child and maternal health, ear health, sexual health and women’s health to the Indigenous communities surrounding Roebourne.
This position offers fully furnished free housing in a two-storey, three-bedroom plus study, two bathroom house located in picturesque Point Samson with ocean views and walking distance to the beach. Allowances are paid for power, water, phone, internet and mobile costs and two adult return airfares to Perth are provided each year. Combined with a 2008 family sedan vehicle and a generous salary the total value of the package is from $258,000.
No after-hours or on-all work is required for this position, and practice hours run Monday to Friday between 0800-1630 with weekends free to explore the region’s spectacular natural beauty. With Millstream and Karijini National Parks right on the doorstep, there are an abundance of gorges, waterfalls, fern pools and stunning scenery best viewed at sunrise or sunset when the vivid colours of the area come to life. A magnificent display of wildflowers contrast the natural outback colours when the wildflower season lays its carpet of purples, reds and yellows in the heart of the winter months.
There are easily accessible beaches in and around the Central Pilbara. The nearby Dampier Archipelago comprises 42 islands, islets and rocks lying within a 45 kilometre radius from the towns of Dampier and Point Samson. Many of the islands resemble the rugged Burrup Peninsula, with coastal cliffs and steep-sided rock piles separated by valleys, sand plains and pristine beaches ideal for swimming and snorkelling. The Archipelago offers excellent boating with many world-class fishing spots for deep water, reef or sheltered inlet fishing.
Roebourne is located 1,535 kilometres north-west of Perth, in the Pilbara region of Western Australia. It has a population of 16,423 and is less than 20 kilometres from Point Samson, on the Cape Lambert coast.
