ACCIONA Energy is a global leader in the renewable energy industry. It develops, constructs, owns and operates large scale solar, wind energy, hydro power, biomass and biodiesel plants around the world. With continued growth in Australia, ACCIONA is looking for a strong leader in Business Development to grow and develop ACCIONA Energy’s pipeline of opportunities across the Renewable Energy industry.

This role will report to the Director, Development and key responsibilities are: 

• Actively seek out new opportunities for developing the business, including greenfield developments, acquisitions and joint ventures,
• Maintain a ‘watching brief’ on the Australian renewables market including gathering and reporting of intelligence on policy development, market financial assessments, and upcoming developments of renewable energy projects.
• Oversee due diligence activities, the negotiation of commercial transactions and assist with project acquisitions where required.
• Build relationships within the market with renewable energy companies, developers, energy generators and other relevant market participants.
• Actively seek out opportunities for ‘cross selling’ that enhance business development prospects in Australia for ACCIONA as a group.
• Markets, Policy and Stakeholder Relations
• Assist in the analysis of economic, regulatory and demographic factors which impact upon the business.
• Assist in meetings with senior government stakeholders to influence decisions and secure opportunities for growing the business.
• Build and sustain productive relationships with key strategic partners and stakeholders;
• Provide high level oversight of projects undertaken by the development team and collaboration with peers, ensure proactive review and input to project critical issues impeding delivery.
• Ensure that developed projects are of the highest commercial viability and in collaboration with peers, continuously refine the prospecting and development portfolio to achieve this objective.

To be successful in the position you will need:

• Tertiary qualifications in commerce, business management, engineering or science preferred.
• Anticipated 10 years post graduate experience.
• Technical and engineering qualifications will be highly considered where augmented by strong wind farm industry and practical experience.
• Experience in project development and delivery.
• Self starter with flexibility and willingness to grow with the organisation.
• Cultural fit within the local and international organisations and knowledge of and experience in working across cultures.
• Proficiency with MS Office suite.
• High level skills of presentation and communication and ability to build and maintain strong working relationships with key stakeholders.
• Demonstrated commercial acumen and strategic thinking.
• Demonstrated ability to motivate/manage teams.
