Site Supervisor (Clerk of Works) - 6 month contract
This medium sized engineering consultancy based in Canberra has an urgent requirement for a Surveillance Officer (Clerk of Works) to join their busy Civil Engineering team on a contract basis (approximately 6 months).
You will be working on a variety of projects including master planned communities in NSW & ACT, major infrastructure works, water and sewerage schemes and pavement rehabilitation.
The ideal candidate will have a minimum of 5 years experience with a large proportion of that based on site conducting a site supervisory role. You must have good understanding of construction principles, industry regulations as well a solid technical knowledge of the civil engineering industry. It is essential that you have EEO and OH&S knowledge. You will have the ability of working to tight deadlines, have a high level of negotiation and dispute resolution skills and have excellent communication skills.
Your main responsibilities will be supervising the work of the contractors on behalf of this consultancy ensuring that all work is done to standard and specification:
Attend sites for adequate surveillance/supervision
Record daily in books of site inspection reports
Review all drawings, specifications and bill of quantities
Ensure the contract is issued current drawings regularly
Continually be in contact with the contractor(s)
Continually check and monitor work in progress
Monitor and evaluate subcontractor work performance and attendance
Ensure all required environmental controls are in place and adequately maintained
Ensure OH&S compliance
