As a result of continued growth, a new role has been created within this leading Engineering Consultancy for an experienced Design Engineer to join their Energy Group. The group is involved in the development of critical power infrastructure, ranging from EHV transmission substations through to cogeneration plant and critical supply schemes for utilities, network owners, and large industrial and commercial developments.
Working with a large team of experienced engineers and project managers, your primary focus will be on the design of substation Primary, Protection or Control systems for High Voltage Power Transmission and Distribution projects between 415V and 500 kV. This will involve: -
Developing power or protection single line diagrams
Designing AC/DC auxiliary systems, earth grids and lightning protection schemes
Preparing layout designs of high voltage substations
Writing high voltage plant specifications and compiling plant data sheets
Designing substation protection & control systems
Determining protection settings and configuring IEDs
The successful applicant will be degree qualified with a minimum of 10 years experience in a similar role. A good working knowledge of high voltage network configurations/planning and the ability to develop designs on medium to large-scale projects is desirable, as is prior experience with tools such as EDSA and/or PSSE. Experience within a consulting environment is preferred, and the ability to deal with clients on a daily basis and liaise with contractors on construction projects is essential.
