As a result of recent project wins and internal promotions, a position now exists for and experience Engineering Manager within the Civil/Structural unit of this expanding business.
Reporting to the General Manager, you will be responsible for controlling & coordinating the structural design function, managing the structural design for buildings, boiler plant, and other structures associated with major Power Plant projects, as well as providing technical input to more complex projects. This will involve: -
Managerial: -
Managing and supervising a team of design engineers.
Selection & development of staff.
Prepare budgets, time schedules, resourcing plans.
Technical: -
Working with fabricators and erectors to improve cost effectiveness of designs.
Selecting and monitoring external consultants.
Specification, coordination and review of structural steel and reinforced concrete design works carried out by external consultants.
Preparation of Engineering Practices and standard designs to improve efficiency of the design process.
Preliminary design of structural and concrete works for tender proposals.
Review and approve steelwork detail drawings as part of QA procedures.
Carry out structural steel design for boiler and building structures.
Carry out reinforced concrete design for foundation works.
Analysing and designing piping systems.
The successful applicant will be Degree qualified in Civil / Structural Engineering with a minimum of 10 years experience in a similar role. The ability to guide, manage and coach a team of design engineers is essential, as are excellent communication, project management and organisational skills. A proactive and innovative approach will see you succeed in this role.
