Tender & Proposals Manager - Western Australia

We require a Pre Contracts Bid Manager for Western Australia reporting to the Regional Manager (Western). You will be working for one of the largest and fastest growing Structural Mechanical Construction Companies in Australia.

You will be required to lead a team consisting of professional engineers, project managers, cost planners and programmers. It is likely that you will have 15 years experience in the field of construction estimating in Australia (preferably in a SMP framework). Preferred pre-requisites for this position include relative tertiary qualifications in construction management and/or and engineering discipline together with solid practical (project) experience. You will have the ability to manage a team of professionals with varying discipline skills, and ability to plan, budget for and manage the bid preparation process, experience in a range of project delivery processes and forms of contract and be computer literate.

Responsibilities for this position include, but are not limited to:

• Securing appropriate prospects and opportunities for tender
• Ensuring adherence to relevant procedures by estimating personnel
• Identifying tasks necessary for the successful submission of the tender
• Securing a suitable tender team (including specialist Consultants as appropriate)
• Ensuring that each team member is clear on individual roles and responsibilities
• Devising/reviewing strategies for successful conversion of the prospect into a contract
• Ensuring senior management is informed of key issues
• Managing preparation of estimates which reflect scope of work and contract conditions
• Adopting the role of Bid-Leader as appropriate or necessary
• Reviewing of all estimates prepared for the region
• Managing the preparation of the tender submission
• Ensuring estimating staff have adequate training and tools to carry out their roles

You will be responsible for the development and coordination of the bid program in order to compile submissions for work as well as make people aware of deadlines, meetings, etc. You will also be the first point of contact for client representatives and stick to timelines and guides that have been agreed upon. You will be required to work closely with senior management and the proposals team and control the bid from start to finish, Input to the strategy overall bid, make keys points of difference.
