Fortescue Metals Group has the largest tenement holding in Pilbara with our first mine optimising to 55mtpa and over 1000 employees already onsite.
Fortescue Metals Group has the largest tenement holding in the Pilbara with over 4.5 billion tonnes of Joint Ore Reserves Committee (JORC) Resources and 1.1 billion tonnes of JORC Reserves. Cloudbreak, our primary mine located in the Chichester Ranges about 150 kilometres north of Newman, achieved practical completion in July 2008. We are now optimising to 55 mta. This first stage of ore production is already “sold out” to major Chinese steel mills and we have long term relationships with these mills.
Fortescue’s mine team is made up of a wide range of occupations, from engineers to administrators and operators to geologists. There are more than 1000 people of all ages and cultures living onsite and working on family-friendly rosters designed to help our people achieve a healthy balance between work and recreation. Fortescue insists on developing mining practices that promote the protection of our environment, cultural heritage and the safety of our workers. There are plenty of opportunities to join an emerging world force in resource mining.
