John Holland is one of Australia’s leading construction and engineering companies, with a record of achievement in the Power, Rail, Structural Mechanical Process, Telecoms, Mining and Water sectors with work in hand of approximately 4.0 billion dollars. We are seeking expressions of interest from suitably qualified people for the position of Commercial Manager for our X50 project located at the Abbot Point coal terminal in central Queensland.
The project is located at Abbot Point, approximately 30 km by road north of the sub tropical paradise of Bowen, on the Central Queensland coast. The duration of the project is expected to be around 20 months, however, the opportunity for ongoing work on other projects in the region is very likely. The project consists of widening an existing jetty with a new outloading conveyor system, roadway and other associated works. This project presents some exciting heavy engineering and construction opportunities in a very desirable location.
Bowen is a support and residential hub to the Collinsville coal region. It’s coastal location and the greenery of the surrounding small crops, makes it one of the most desirable areas to live in tropical central Queensland. Airports are at Proserpine (approx 1 hour south and or Mackay - a little over two hours to the south) and Townsville (about two hours north). In its capacity as a regional centre, Bowen enjoys a relatively high level of amenity with a ‘country’ feel. The famous resort of Airlie Beach is located about an hours drive south of Bowen.
Your responsibilities and duties include, but are not limited to:
• Ensuring compliance with relevant procurement standards
• Preparation of purchase enquiries, bid evaluations and recommendations.
• Assistance with preparation of subcontract documents
• Expediting and inspection co-ordination
• Monitoring performance of supplies and subcontractors
• Ensuring compliance with the project quality plan
• Ensuring compliance with tendering and contractual documentation
• Ensuring relevant customer service and professional standards
• Reporting on quality issues in line with policy and procedures
• Ensuring compliance with environmental requirements
• Ensuring the integrity of commercial relationships, practices and outcomes
• Ensuring scope of work and shutdown implementation and evaluation
• Assisting with commercial review of quotations and tenders
• Assisting the project team with purchasing and subcontract issues
• Proactively contribute to maintain our ‘Zero harm’ culture
