Workshop Managers Needed for one of WA's expanding businesses.
Primary Objective:
You will be responsible for economic performance of the workshop; ensuring plant and equipment are maintained to company standards whilst maintaining strategic business relationships with key stakeholders.
Non-negotiable Objectives:
1. Preventative service and maintenance to be completed within company service/maintenance intervals.
2. All defects to be attended to within agreed timeframes (different timeframes for High, Medium and Low).
3. To ensure safety and quality workmanship in all workshop activities.
Principal Duties/Responsibilities/Tasks:
1. Workshop
• Ensure safe working practices within the workshop as well as safety of plant and equipment
• Ensuring allocation of work tasks to Plant Foreman and Technicians are appropriately scheduled and executed
• Ensuring working hours are adhered to by workshop staff
• Prioritising breakdown/defect items to be rectified/repaired and ensuring that work is allocated appropriately
• Troubleshooting and assisting with breakdowns/defects
• Scheduling routine services/maintenance for metered plant and ensure this is carried out at the appropriate times
• Scheduling plant items that fall under calibration requirements
• Making arrangements with appropriate external suppliers to the workshop with regard to service/maintenance and parts provided by them
2. Plant
• Manage plant availability and coordinate with project managers/supervisors in line with project requirements
• Coordinate, plan and arrange movement of plant between worksites and to/from the workshop
• Arrange and manage external plant hire arrangements for requirements where plant is not available internally
• Assist the Plant Foreman with the diagnosis of unusual mechanical problems or during emergency breakdowns
3. Safety & Quality Improvement
• Develop a culture within your team to eliminate incidents and ensuring a safe workplace for all
• Implement new processes to improve the ability of the workshop to exceed delivery standards
• Working with the Asset Manager to ensure the safe and efficient operation of the workshop and plant
Qualifications
Required:
• Excellent time management, problem solving and co-ordination skills
• Experience in managing the workshop activities in a similar environment
• Trade Certificate in Heavy Duty Diesel Mechanics or equivalent
• Previous experience using Microsoft office suite
Preferred
• Senior First Aid Certificate
• Certificate of competency for workplace safety management
