Position: Construction, Foreman / Supervisor
Western Australia's leading subterranean power, communications, water and drainage systems are looking for Plant Foremans!
Primary Objective:
To manage mechanics, fitters, apprentices and trade assistants in the workshop to ensure that service, maintenance and breakdown of all plant machinery and equipment are scheduled and completed to the satisfaction of the Workshop Supervisor, with all works completed in line with the employer's safety and quality procedures and policies.
Principal Duties/Responsibilities/Tasks:
1. Supervision
• Supervise mechanics, fitters, apprentices and trade assistants in the workshop to ensure they are completing work to a high standard and in a timely manner.
• Supervise workshop personnel to ensure they follow safety policy and procedures.
• Train and supervise apprentice mechanic effectively.
• Allocation and signing of on job sheet.
2. Mechanics
• Maintain and service plant equipment and machinery effectively.
• Order parts accurately.
• Diagnose and use fault finding skills in the mechanical assessment of plant machinery and equipment for breakdown, repair, maintenance or service.
3. Mentoring
• Provide support, advice and assistance to workshop personnel.
• Train and assess apprentice mechanics.
• Encourage a positive culture within the workshop.
• Carry out monthly toolbox meetings and provide minutes to the Supervisor for sign off and filing.
• Attending to Completion of personnel performance reviews.
4. Scheduling
• Liaise with Workshop Supervisor to schedule routine service and maintenance of plant.
• Assist Workshop Supervisor in assigning jobs to workshop personnel.
• Notify Workshop Supervisor of jobs to be rescheduled and projected time frames.
• Forward planning for personnel to achieve the highest possible daily productivity targets.
5. Quality Improvement
• Carry out monthly toolbox meetings and provide minutes to the Supervisor for sign off and filing.
• Assist Workshop Supervisor in implementing new processes to improve the ability of the workshop to exceed delivery standards.
• Actively promote and carry out work in accordance with safe work practices and standards.
• Maintain a tidy well-organised work area.
Qualifications
Required:
• Trade Certificate in Heavy Duty Diesel Mechanics or equivalent.
• 5 years experience as a heavy duty diesel mechanic.
• Computer literacy.
• Ability to work as an effective Team Member, with an emphasis on communication skills.
Preferred
• Prior supervisory and mentoring experience.
• Prior experience in a similar industry.
• Previous experience using Microsoft Outlook.
