Department of Main Roads are investing $16.2 billion over the next five years on road and transport infrastructure that will connect our future, while simultaneously managing the State’s largest asset – some 34,000 km of road network valued at over $35 billion.


As the Principal Designer (Road Engineering Standards) you will be responsible for:


- Researching, developing, producing and maintaining the department's manuals for use in the design and construction of road projects. Manuals include Standard Drawings Roads Manual and Drafting & Design Presentation Standards Manual.

- Developing and delivering training courses in understanding design and presentation of road design and then their delivery to both Main Roads staff and external consultants.

- Providing advice on appropriate use of road design standards and road planning and design schemes to both internal and external road designers.

- Providing specialist technical input to major complex road infrastructure projects and recommend amendments and innovations to designs as considered necessary.


QUALIFICATIONS:


A Bachelor of Technology (Civil), Associate Degree in Civil Engineering or acceptable equivalent from a recognised tertiary institution is required for this position.


The remuneration package for this role ranges from $75,500 – $79,400 plus a 2 year loading of between $18,800 – $19,900 which is reviewable at the end of the period. Main Roads also provides excellent benefits including flexible work hours and salary packaging options.


Ideally you will have design experience and have worked on road design projects and the development of standards.
