The Department of Main Roads are investing $13.3 billion over the next five years on road and transport infrastructure whilst simultaneously managing the states biggest asset - some 33,500 km of road network.
A Senior Environmental Officer is required for the Mackay and Whitsunday Region to provide high level guidance and environmental expertise.
No two days will be alike. You will be working autonomously on a variety of projects, utilising your environmental and cultural heritage knowledge to make recommendations and improvements. You will be a part of the project team from strategic planning through to construction phase. You will be building sound working relationships with external consultants and working alongside with Engineers and Designers to ensure environmental management consistency across the state.
You will have:
- Degree in Environmental Science, Environmental Engineering, Environmental Management or Natural Resource Management
- Strong background and understanding of road infrastructure projects
- Be self motivated, self reliant and confident in your decision making ability
- Sound relationship building and communication skills
- Knowledge of environmental legislation and ability to apply these practices
