'Working for an international mining company, this role will see you focusing on power systems projects, the likes of which include a feasibility study and implementation of a new 132/22kV substation on site; development and implementation of power systems maintenance procedures, strategic maintenance plans, switching instructions for the HV systems, and monitoring of the electricity pool; installation & commissioning of several AC & DC Turbine switchboards, each worth
$500 000; and the $250 000 refurbishment of the site’s 530kW extraction pumps.
The mining house has a big expansion plan for this particular site, which they are looking to swing into action by mid next year. They also are known to have a flat management structure and a low attrition rate, which, given attrition rates in this market, obviously means they are doing something right by their employees.
The position is FIFO with one of the shortest swings around, so you won’t be spending extensive periods of time away from home.
To progress to interview, you need to have a Bachelor of Electrical Engineering and five years post-graduate experience. Your experience will preferably be power-focused, and obtained ideally in a heavy industry or mining environment.
