Department of Main Roads are investing $13.3 billion over the next five years on road and transport infrastructure that will connect our future, while simultaneously managing the State’s largest asset – some 34,000 km of road network valued at over $35 billion.


As a result we are seeking to appoint a Senior Geologist to be based in our Rockhampton District office.


As the Senior Geologist you will be responsible for:


- Managing the business reporting systems of the Rockhampton Geotechnical Unit

- Providing specialist engineering geological services and technical advice to facilitate the design, construction and maintenance of transport infrastructure.

- Providing project management of geotechnical assessments and investigations

- The preparation of multi-disciplined reports on bridge and other site investigations, cuts and fills, slope stability, soft and other problem soils, geo-environmental, materials and quarry investigations


QUALIFICATIONS:


Possession of a degree from a recognized tertiary institution In Science or Applied Science majoring in Geology, Geological Engineering or an acceptable equivalent is mandatory. Post graduate qualifications in engineering geology, geotechnical engineering or a related discipline are highly desirable.


The remuneration package for this role ranges from $79,300 – $85,000 plus a 2 year loading of between $19,800 – $21,200 which is reviewable at the end of the period. Main Roads also provides excellent benefits including flexible work hours and salary packaging options.
