The Ravensthorpe Nickel Operation (RNO) is a A$2.8 billion project located in the South coastal region of Western Australia, just 180kms from Esperance. The operation, currently in commissioning, includes a new mine and processing facility, producing a mixed nickel and cobalt hydroxide intermediate product using state of the art technology.

Think Opportunity

Our Ravensthorpe site is excited to offer the role of Process Engineer working in our Utilities department and reporting to the Process Superintendent. This challenging role offers you the chance to work at our brand new state of the art site alongside a dynamic team of engineers on a 5/2 4/3 residential roster.

Think Purpose

This role is primarily responsible for supporting the operations team in (one of) the areas of:

• Acid plant operation - Sulphur burning acid plant, delivering up to 4400 tpd of acid, and steam for power generation;
• Power generation - Steam turbines, package boilers and standby generators, delivering up to 51 MW;
• Water management - raw water transfer, desalination plant, demineralisation plant, cooling water, Reverse Osmosis plant, borehole water, and plant water usage.

With a focus on process control and improvement, your responsibilities will extend to achieving operational targets in the Utilities plant by monitoring, analysing and improving plant performance, and by promoting safe operating practices. This will be supported by business improvement projects using Six Sigma (Green Belt) tools.

Think Requirements

We seek to employ a Process Engineer with a proven background in heavy industry, and with exposure to acid plant operation, power plant operation and/or water management. Suitably qualified with a degree in chemical or electrical engineering, the successful candidate should have a good understanding of both production and maintenance strategies for large processing plants.

This largely autonomous role requires the suitable candidate to be self-motivated and have excellent problem solving and communication skills. Experience in Six Sigma would be advantageous.
