The Mater was established in 1906 by the Sisters of Mercy. Located within the heart of Brisbane, Mater Health Services is now the city’s leading public and private collocated healthcare provider. With more than 6000 staff and comprising of three Public and four Private hospitals, Mater provides healthcare services under a not-for-profit framework for half-a-million people each year. With specialised Mothers’, Children’s and Adult hospitals, Mater offers a broad range of medical, surgical, outpatient, emergency and community health services across a spectrum of clinical specialties. Mater’s Medical Research Institute and Mater Education Centre, located onsite, provide staff with unique access to the most advanced and innovative techniques for management of illness and disease, as well as information about leading edge techniques in medical and surgical procedures.
Our team of educators and facilitators support and guide our staff through ongoing education opportunities on site as well as through affiliated tertiary institutions. With final stages of major redevelopment of our Mothers’ Public and Private Hospitals underway and a refurbishment of our Adult Hospital, this is an exciting time of growth for our dedicated team.
