George Bourne & Associates (GBA) was established at Barcaldine in 1945. The present Principals have a combined experience of 44 years in the business.
GBA specialises in a full range of technical and engineering services to local government authorities in the central and far western areas of Queensland. Our firm has survived in the outback for more than 60 years by providing our clients with competent, continuous and quality service, which has been developed and continually upgraded to meet their requirements in a rural and remote environment.
Typical projects of our firm include:
- Survey, design and project management of rural arterial and local roads;
- Supervision of day labour construction works on rural national highways;
- Development of headworks, water treatment and extension of water reticulation systems for western towns including ground reservoirs, dams and underground water supplies;
- Supervision of construction of swimming pools and aquatic centres in association with other Consultants;
- Design and project management of small bridges, wastewater disposal systems, local government technical and engineering services, domestic, commercial and industrial buildings;
- Survey, design, supervision of construction of rural aerodromes.
GBA’s operations are concentrated mainly in Barcaldine, Barcoo, Blackall, Boulia, Diamantina, Ilfracombe, Isisford, Jericho, Longreach and Tambo Shires. Of more recent times, the firm has undertaken work in the Shires of Aramac, Cloncurry, Quilpie, Winton and McKinlay.
The staff of GBA includes eleven engineers, four designers, one building certifier and five administrative support staff.
The human resources of the firm are supported by state of the art computers, computer aided drafting equipment and plotters all linked through our network server which provides internet and email access.
