Working in Australia

Shell

Shell is a truly international, multicultural environment, one in which the exchange of ideas is encouraged and where innovation thrives. We employ over 3200 people in Australia and over 109,000 worldwide. We have offices in Melbourne and Perth, refineries in Clyde (NSW) and Geelong (VIC), as well as 19 terminals and over 33 depots throughout Australia.

Upstream:

Shell’s upstream business is Shell Development Australia (SDA). SDA employs 250 employees based in Perth who work with other joint venture participants and operators to develop oil and gas projects. We find, develop and supply liquefied natural gas (LNG) to overseas markets and by pipeline to domestic customers in Western Australia.

SDA is currently involved in a number of major gas projects off the north west coast of Australia. Globally, Shell is already the world’s largest producer of LNG. By 2010, Shell aims to have almost doubled LNG capacity. Projects in Australia will make a major contribution to this growth. Using this additional LNG to produce power can result in around 25 million tonnes less carbon dioxide emissions per year, relative to using coal.
